Climate exposure caused corrosion failures are prevalent today for all electronics, causing extensive yearly costs, but especially for Power Electronics (PE) systems used as part of energy production and distribution, and a range of other industrial sectors, directly affecting their efficiency.

The aim of this project is to develop and demonstrate an existing prototype “Mission profile sensor product” into a novel and commercial “ECS Chip Sensor”.

The ECS-Chip product will provide a solution to monitor the influence of harsh condition effect on electronics, from sensor data collected consistently (such as e.g. environmental conditions). The major advantage would be the possibility of adopting a Pro-active Design and Monitoring Strategy (PDMS) reducing cost for maintenance, especially for costly installation such as offshore, while sensor data can also be used as input and integrated with AI-ML prediction models for improving design and product robustness.

Additionally, ECS-Chip sensor also work as a duel sensor for monitoring general corrosion that is useful in connection with structural materials for example for Wind Turbine structure.
